Chiyoda Gojome Exchange Hall – A Restored 110-Year-Old Kominka for Overnight Stays
Chiyoda Gojome Exchange Hall is a facility where visitors from within and outside the prefecture can casually stay overnight. This property is a roughly 110-year-old kominka (traditional folk house) that was renovated and opened in Heisei 30 (2018). It offers budget-friendly rates and welcomes long-term stays. The facility faces the historic morning market street, which has a history of about 520 years, and is also open as a rest area for those visiting the market. It is suitable for meetings, social gatherings, and fully equipped for lodging. Guests can enjoy the local izakaya (Japanese pubs) and then stay overnight at the exchange hall to fully experience the evening in Gojome. The property features a spacious kominka with a site area of 350 tsubo (approximately 1,155 square meters) and a building area of 100 tsubo (approximately 330 square meters). If no other guests are staying, the entire building can be reserved for private use, offering a feeling similar to visiting a villa or returning to a countryside family home. Facilities include a large engawa (veranda) and spacious Japanese-style rooms. Equipment available includes Japanese-style rooms (office and free space, each 8 tatami mats), Japanese-style rooms (lodging rooms of 12 and 10 tatami mats), a Western-style room (exchange cafe, 12 tatami mats), a dining room, futon and pillows, washbasins, a laundry room, a bath, flush toilets (separate for men and women), and wireless LAN internet access. Parking is available for a total of 10 cars. Business hours are from 8:30 to 18:30 on morning market days, and from 11:00 to 18:30 on other days. The facility is closed on Wednesdays (if the market is held on Wednesday, the following Thursday is the regular holiday). Accommodation is available at the guest's desired date and time with no regular holiday.
