A Forest Retreat in Izu
The surrounding area of Higashiizu is part of the Izu Peninsula, known for its dramatic coastline and numerous hot spring resorts. An interesting local fact is that the peninsula was formed by volcanic activity and is still geothermally active, with hot springs bubbling up in many locations. The closest major tourist attraction is the Atagawa Banana & Crocodile Garden, a unique botanical garden and zoo combination located approximately 5.2 kilometers away in the neighboring town.
